products
The products are co-created with the artisans, embracing their culture, and nurturing the direct environments that
provide them with the needed material. As such, none of the cultural richness that is still invested in the network Tekoha has created is lost. In fact, the culture and traditions in the communities is exactly what we try to preserve and embrace. As a result, the products traded by Tekoha are all authentically Brazilian, yet all uniquely different through the cultural context in which they have been produced. In contrast to all these differences, all products have some characteristics in common.
All products have been made by hand, making every product a unique piece. All communities use locally sourced, eco-friendly material that is either biodegradable or recycled, making all products environmentally sustainable. Lastly, the products are produced by artists that can’t get their products to the market. Sometimes it is a lack of basic infrastructure, sometimes a lack of business knowledge, other times a lack of self-esteem. Though always gives it rise to a unique story that makes these products and our work so deeply meaningful.
